Another in this years Spooktober reading and viewing, though this is not necessarily horror, more supernatural so still within the bounds of the month’s remit.
Helianthes (Hell for short) is a Cambion, half-demon half-human and unusually he was allowed to live to adulthood rather than being killed at birth.
We come into his life just as he’s found making love to his sister’s fiance and is finally disowned by his family and cast out…
Well, sort of cast out his parent’s hire a bodyguard for him, Elias, and as we find out through the book it is not to protect him from the demons he has decided to exorcise as his new profession, but from humans who find his difference too much.
We follow Hell and Elias through lots of adventures where it becomes very clear that there is something joined up happening and it isn’t just the usual demonic behaviour.
We also follow the growing relationship between the two, and the chaos of a life Hell has to deal with all the torment and rejection he’s had to deal with.
A great story strongly intertwined with the rich artwork made this a great read start to finish, oh and talking about finishes the extra stories at the end are really fun and a great addition to the tales of Helianthes and Elias.
I received this from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
