Huxley: The Oracle

Huxley: The Oracle

I really enjoyed Huxley earlier this year and as soon as I saw this I asked for a review copy.

Huxley: The Oracle is a prequel to the Huxley comics and sets it up really nicely. It shows more information on the Ronin, enhanced human servants of the AI Oracle, and this story is about finding out where and why there is an energy signal coming from out in the desert but they have very little information on the mission itself.

This leads us to one of the main components of Huxley without giving too much away and leaving space for more stories in this universe, we still have a couple of main threads to follow that were left loose at the end of this book.

This is very different from the first saga in the Huxley universe, the first was a far more traditional graphic novel with panels and more traditional art style, Huxley: The Oracle art comes from 3D modelling which is then converted into these stunningly large, almost cinematic, panels.

Some of the panels have a story running alongside but not many, relying more on vast spreads of art to tell the story with support from the words rather than following the story through the panels of a traditional comic.

Not a book to read on the commute as it’s just a little bit big and each double page spread really needs time to appreciate.
