Andrew Wheeler, Ilias Kyriazis. IDW, (160p) ISBN: 9798887240657. Graphic Novel, read 03/11/25, Hardback ★★★★☆
I got this recently in a great IDW Humble Bundle offer and have gradually been working my way through them.
We join Felix Midnight, a debonair cat burglar, just as he’s once more turning down working for ‘Rorschach’, who does not really appreciate this and interferes in the caper that Felix is currently executing.
‘Rorscharch’ then sets Felix up for a big fall to try and force him to work for them and this is the vehicle for the rest of the story with all its twists and turns.
It was hyped as John Wick, but it felt more like one of those 60s films such as “How To Steal A Million”, with a bit of Oceans in it. It is hyper-action more than hyper-violent and has a thread of sardonic humour running through it which makes it so readable.
The Oceans feel is that we keep getting introduced to new characters, who initially are after Felix for something he actually didn’t do (trying not to spoil too much) but eventually team up to help him out.
The art work is dynamic and paced so well, but it it the elegance of the whole setting that it gets across so well making it such a lush read.
Another fun read for the morning/evening commute!
