I knew as soon as I saw the cover of this that I had to get it as I love that art style!
Each chapter starts with an image of a tarot card that is following the Fool’s Journey through a tarot deck, and each chapter’s theme seems to correspond to the theme of the card that is the chapter header.
James is part of Arcana, an organised group of witches overseeing supernatural activities, and he’s sent to check out some goings on at Farm Hill.
Here he meets, and falls for, Eli who has been practising their witchcraft there in secret and who is a socially awkward barista…
Full of intrigue and secrets, family curses, love, witchcraft, and tarot I really enjoyed this from start to finish. The art was quite light and free with soft blues and greys for the most part but a riot of blacks and red when the action started.
The intrigue throughout the book kept you on the edge of the seat as was the burgeoning relationship between James and Eli, the growing friendship group was also a beautiful thing to see as Eli really needed people to love and believe in him.
A wonderful tale of found family and curses with so much more to come that I’ve already got Arcana: The Cursed Fate preordered all ready for when it comes out at the end of June.
