Junesploitation! 2025

Fire and Ice, Darkwolf

Fire and Ice, Darkwolf

This is the first time I’ve heard of #Junesploitation, but this is one of the really good things about Bluesky, I’ve seen so many different things since not being beholden to the almighty algorithm.

This has been running for twelve years now, hosted by F This Movie! who give a daily prompt list of film genres to choose from and you watch a movie that is suggested to you by that prompt.

The #Junespolitation Primer is here (and I’ve added it below) with a long list of prompts, I’ll be adding my list of films below and linking to any little reviews I end up doing.

I’ve got a film in mind for tonight and will fill out the list as I can over the next couple of days.

Lack of Resolution

“I swear by my pretty floral bonnet, I will end you.”

“I swear by my pretty floral bonnet, I will end you.”

I’m getting into a terrible habit of really getting into a television series, really enjoying it, and then finding out that it’s been cancelled.

This leaves me with no resolution to a lot of things; character arcs, plot lines, and a proper ending.

I used to really find this quite annoying but it’s sort of fun now to see how many shows I can curse by enjoying the first series!

Whilst I’m doing this I’m going to be posts looking at all these shows that I’ve watched so far that just end leaving characters returned from hell and a main character with her throat ripped out!

I’m also going to count shows that had a film to tie things up, as they never really do (looking at you Firefly).

There will eventually be a list on this page linking to each, here are some off the top of my head.

  • Agent Carter
  • Anne with an E
  • Better Off Ted
  • Cowboy Bebop (live show)
  • Cursed
  • Deadly Class
  • Finding Carter
  • Firefly
  • Flashforward
  • The Glades
  • Hannibal
  • The Irregulars
  • Jupiter’s Legacy
  • Kyle XY
  • Legends of Tomorrow
  • Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman
  • Manifest
  • My Name is Earl
  • No Tomorrow
  • October Faction
  • The Order
  • Prodigal Son
  • Reaper
  • Sliders
  • The Society
  • Southland
  • Terra Nova
  • Truth Seekers
  • The Whispers
  • The Wonder Years

If you know of others please let me know.

TV Shows

Jon Pertwee

Jon Pertwee

To go along with the various lists of award winning TV, Film, and Music I needed a dump space for everything else that doesn’t win awards.

There is the Lack of Resolution (see pinned list) post where I look at all those favourite series that never quite finished and we were left hanging in the middle of massive story arcs (looking at you The Order, seven loose arcs!).

This one will just be a list of all the other series I’ve heard about and fancied watching, all will eventually get pages for themselves once I start watching them and then each episode will get a mini review.

Photography - A Feminist History

Photography – A Feminist History

My personal collection of art books, sitting there on my shelves.

This used to be a little bigger but I decided a while back to concentrate more on later 19th century and onward works, particularly feminist art and photography.

Solo Board Games

Solo Board Games

Solo Board Games

As we all know there has been very little chance of playing any form of social gaming during the last few years and I really needed to scratch that gaming itch again.

So over the last couple of weeks I’ve got my PS5 back out of storage (still not really played anything yet) and bought a few solo mode board games.

My main criteria for these right now is that they have to be small box games with a built-in solo mode or co-op that can be played solo, can’t be bothered searching out fan-made solo modes for games yet.

The first three I’ve got are Friday, Lux Aeterna, and One Deck Dungeon: Forest of Shadows due to this small box restriction, and due to the fact I got great deals on eBay for them, but since the first draft of this post I’ve added a few more.

I’m watching some playthroughs right now and really want to start with One Deck Dungeon, so watch out for updates on that.

I may also be able to have a 10 for 10 challenge in 2026 after setting up this area of the blog to my satisfaction (😂)

The complete list of what I want is here and will be updated as I get the game or find another I fancy and it may become a bit more refined but this will do to begin with. For a start I know there are some solo RPGs on this list and I think I’ll make a separate post for those.

Twitter’s Favourite Albums

Hunky Dory

Hunky Dory

After playing Hunky Dory once more for the umpteen millionth time, I was genuinely interested in what other people’s favourite album of all time was.

That one album you could play and have played forever, or would choose if given no other choice.

So of course I asked Twitter…

I was pleasantly surprised by how popular a post it became, but very perturbed as the goal was to listen to every album that was suggested, more on this later.

What was also really nice is that everyone was really positive with no making fun of or belittling others choices and taste, which was very broad indeed and is going to make for some interesting listening for me.

Some of the albums suggested are very close to being that *one* album for me as well, The The – Soul Mining, Prefab Sprout – Steve McQueen, Joni Mitchell – Blue, which shows what great taste people have.

These are the albums that were suggested by the lovely people of Twitter but only the ones where the poster played by the Highlander rules and mentioned only one!

13 others also thought Hunky Dory was the best album ever, and of course they are correct!
