Huxley

I asked for this from Publisher News as soon as I saw it as I’ve really been enjoying graphic novels these last couple of years and the grim face on the front of this seemed promising.

Set in a world that has cast humanity into the stars, got cut off from the stars when the means of leaving were destroyed as others left, then went ahead and destroyed most of humanity and the planet.

A world of scavenging gangs, controlling A.I.s, depleted environment, cloned workers, and past dreams and nightmares.

Into this steps (well, actually scavenged) comes a robot with possible locations for the workers who found it to make some real loot and get them off the daily grind.

Sharp writing with great illustration keeps the story going along at a cracking pace and made me want more with each page as more and more of the plot was revealed.

Dark and brooding sections with peril, bright and red adventure, and lighter blues for hope, the tones of the work really reflected the pace and emotions of the story.

I read this during a lunch and a bus trip home and it’s now sitting there waiting for another read through it was that good.

Loved the reference to Huxley and what it means in this context, no spoilers for you.
