Old Guard 2 (2025)
SPOILERS AHEAD
OK we really enjoyed Old Guard, and were waiting for this in anticipation…
Oh well, what a completely confused mess of a snorefest with far too many unexplained things in all the exposition the film seemed to chew over.
It came out the gate all guns blazing with a great set fight scene interspersed with a cracking car chase and I thought yes it looks as though it may be on form to be a great adventure.
Then it just seemed to stop dead and start explaining that Andy wasn’t actually the first immortal and that was actually Discord (played by Uma Thurman who did a wonderful job of chewing the scenery) and that she watched as Quynh was taken away on the boat but didn’t intervene or help Andy find her afterward.
Then there is the bit that since there was a First there must be a Last.
Oh and by the way the Last can take away the immortality but that the immortality can be given to another as long as it is willingly done.
Still think the whole thing would have been better without the Discord storyline but with Quynh returning and the clash between her and Andy being played out.
What has made this film even worse is that the whole thing feels like pure exposition for Old Guard 3.
Thankfully it wasn’t too long and we started to fast forward bits.
