Nobody 2
The big plan for today was to go and see Weapons, but a friend saw I was posting about going to the cinema and suggested a meet up and a different film, Nobody 2.
Absolutely loved Nobody (2021) and had completely forgotten that the sequel was out, so jumped at the chance to have some time out with friends.
Right from the start the violence level was set out so that we were under no misapprehension of where this was going, very sort of Deadpool set up, lots of episodic ballets of blood and bullets along with a lot of crunchy noises.
But Hutch’s heart is not really in this return to his former profession, swapping the grind of normality to the grind of this new normality.
To relieve this he wants to go on a family vacation to the one happy place he remembers, Plummerville.
As we should expect it all goes downhill extremely quickly, especially with a running time of 89 minutes.
There are certain points in the film that almost mirror scenes in the first film, Duck Boat and Drug Factory for two, but don’t quite have the same heft as the first time, still good but not quite there.
And that’s what the whole film sort of felt like, I enjoyed it all but it didn’t quite have the heft and crunch of Hutch’s first outing, though there are some excellent set pieces and Sharon Stone chewing the scenery as the ultimate baddy was so hilarious.
Well worth an hour and a half in the cinema with friends though.
