Cathedral of the Drowned

Cathedral of the Drowned

I’ve been so looking forward to this since I finished Crypt of the Moon Spider, the first part of The Lunar Gothic trilogy, which was weird and wonderful.

This picks up where the last book left but explains what happened to Charlie/Grub a bit more and it is that separation that’s at the core of this book.

Edgar Rice Burroughs meets HP Lovecraft, a different view on our solar system backed by cosmic horrors that interweave through space and behind it through a webway of living Moon Spider web.

We travel to another moon in this episode, Io, and a crashed Cathedral Ship which is inhabited by a monster in the bell tower, is home to ‘The Bishop’ and their congregation of rotting undead minions.

We also find more about Maggie and the gang she runs, her problems, and her longings.

Veronica has changed massively in this second installment and has spread her web and has learned to use the passages behind space and time.

Another full-paced adventure with great world building, Barsoom comes to mind but there are so many nods to classic horror, fantasy, and science fiction all blended into a really modern book that was so compelling.

Now to wait for the finale!

I received this from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
