Big Bearded Update #153

What’s been happening in the last  two weeks

Yes, two weeks. It’s been that long since I wrote an update as the heat has been so oppressive that I can’t words…

I’ve been finding the heat has really affected my ability to concentrate on anything at the moment and had thought that June had been a bit of a bust in my blogging.

I then looked at the number of new posts made this month and was actually a bit shocked that I was still putting out the same amount of blog posts as other months, the shocking bit was how little I actually remember about writing these.

I’ve also read very little in June, seven books finished, started about twenty but only finished seven. Finding it easier to read non-fiction at the moment so may just try to make a dent into my non-fiction TBR and leave the fiction to pile up until I’m ready for it once more.

A lot of the month has been taking up with moving over posts from the Indie Bookshops and Indie Publishers websites. I’ve cleared the bookshop site and have just finished transferring across the posts from the publisher site. This means that the only posts I’ve still to move across are the almost 500 reviews and interviews on the original Big Bearded Bookseller website…

This second week sees me back into the swing of blogging again, we have the usual culprits of new bookshops and publishers to add to the list and a pile of new blog posts.

This almost feels like it should be, I’ll just be glad when everything is moved across to the one blog.

It was nice to get a couple more authors involved with the Author Q&A series, but I’d like the other categories to get a few more, I’ll have to start asking once I’ve got everything sorted on the blog.

Interview series

I run a series of interviews and I’m always on the lookout for more people to be involved, if you are interested why not look at the one related to you and get in touch.

I’m also thinking of getting some questions for another, editors but it may take some time to develop as I have to figure out what I personally would like to know about the role and routes into this role.

A reminder that a paid membership to Ko-Fi starts at £1 a month and that supports all the work I do.

If I could get 400 or so Ko-Fi members I could work on these projects  more consistently; including travelling to visit, film, and write about independent bookshops and publishers!

It will always be free to read most of the posts on the blog and Ko-Fi but there may be member exclusive products/posts in the future, such as short stories from an old project that need a home.

If you want to keep up with me on a daily basis you can usually find me over on Bluesky.
