Founded in 2021 and tucked inside the old Leith Central Train Station at the foot of Leith Walk, Argonaut Books is a light and airy bookshop and café catering to a local population of over 50,000 in Scotland’s most densely populated neighbourhood. We hold a varied and curated stock of new releases, old favourites, and choice backlist, making for a selection you won’t find anywhere else. We have been extremely lucky to have found a wonderful and supportive community around our shop, and we’re sure you’ll have a lovely time at one of our book clubs, workshops, writing groups or evening events!

Since opening, we have run a little bright, natural light-filled café in the bookshop. Our coffee is supplied by Artisan Coffee Roasters, a Scottish speciality micro-roaster based in Edinburgh. Our teas are handcrafted by our neighbours at PekoeTea. Our traybakes are supplied by another local favourite TastyBuns. You’re welcome to come along and read, work, or just have a sit whenever you like. There’s free wifi and a giant window to watch the world go by.

We are passionate about books and people reading them. We’re always here for a recommendation, to get you out of a reading funk, or even just for a chat. We run regular offers and deals both in-store and online and you can keep up to date with all of the goings on in the shop via our newsletter.
